OUR MISSION

We are a group of like minded individuals dedicated to our children’s academic and social success. We seek to enrich their lives through partnerships with our community, our school educators and with other special needs families and advocated.

In order to broaden and enhance our ability to serve and advocate for all special needs children and their families, we are committed to providing you with the following:

• The tools and knowledge needed to work well with the staff who will be educating your children.
• Promote commitment, respect and tolerance as we work collaboratively with our educators to achieve our organizations goals.
• To educate our local community and businesses so that all children may enjoy a see environment free of judgement.
• Provide ongoing insight into the ever changing laws and rights within New York State. Special speakers and experts will be on hand to help guide through many of these obstacles that can be difficult to understand.
• We can help. Together we too are parents and teachers of children with disabilities. Who better to understand the concerns or who better to exchange information with on various specialists and programs than those who provide a guiding hand down a pathway they have already walked. Knowledge is the ultimate currency, join us, share yours and learn from ours.

We welcome ALL parents, step-parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, teachers and administrators.

MOUNT SINAI SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENT TEACHER ORGANIATION (SEPTO) is here for students and parents of students in our elementary, middle, high school and in out-of-district placements who have either 504 plans, individualized education plans (IEP’s) or other learning needs.
